Look up heartwarming" in the dictionary and there's a link to this story.

My mum's old man was a Cooney from Galway. I just mailed her to see if her family tree research had any mystery branches pointing towards Dundee.

If any of my children ever ask me what does it mean to be British, this sums it up for me.

Nice story. And I agree, re they should all be similarly remembered.

Re: The man with no-one to mourn him
There are less and less of them left now and each one should be remembered in a similar fashion

Nice story that.... reminded me of when my Nan died in January... she moved down to Hastings to be with me Mum to see out her final days... being 92 a lot of her old friends had either passed away or could not make the journey down to East Sussex for the funeral... had all the family there and 3 hospice carers that who were superb the last few weeks with the old girl ... they didn't have to come ... but they did... I did joke with them afterwards at the wake that they would do anything for a few sarnies and a drink.... but in all honesty it was a lovely touch by them... they do an absolutely fantastic job
